Here at Empowerment we’re passionate about making sure everyone in our community has a voice; especially young people. Based right here in Blackpool, Empowerment works alongside local people to help them feel heard, valued and able to create real change in their lives and communities.
One of the ways we have been doing this is through The Den, our dedicated service for children and young people. The Den offers support to those who have been affected by domestic abuse across Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre, providing a safe space to talk, heal and grow. But, The Den is also about much more than support. It is also about empowerment – in every sense of the word. Through fun activities, creative projects and youth-led initiatives, young people are encouraged to build confidence, learn new skills and take the lead on the issues that matter most to them.
Signing the Power of Youth Charter
We’re incredibly proud to have joined the #iWill Movement by signing the Power of Youth Charter, a national commitment to putting young people at the heart of everything we do.
By signing the Charter, Empowerment (and The Den) are making a clear promise to:
- Create meaningful opportunities for young people to lead and take action.
- Listen to and amplify young voices in our decision-making.
- Celebrate the positive impact that young people make in our community every day.
The Charter reminds us that young people aren’t just the leaders of tomorrow they are already driving positive change today. And here at Empowerment, through The Den, we’re proud to give them the platform and support they deserve.
Why This Matters In Blackpool
Empowerment has deep roots in Blackpool, working across the town to tackle inequality, raise aspirations and make sure no-one is left behind. By putting young people at the centre of that mission, we’re helping to build a stronger, more compassionate community, one where every young person feels seen, heard, and valued.
The Den is a big part of that vision. Whether it’s helping young people recover from tough experiences or giving them space to create, connect and campaign for change, we’re making sure youth voices shape the future of our town.
