Empowerment has taken a stand to end all male violence against women by becoming ‘White Ribbon Accredited’.  White Ribbon is a global campaign that encourages people, and especially men and boys, to individually and collectively take action and change the behaviour and culture that leads to abuse and violence. To wear a white ribbon is to promise to never to commit, excuse or remain silent about male violence against women.

Empowerment encourages all of our male staff to become ‘Ambassadors’ for White Ribbon, to publicise and promote the work of this inspiring movement. Women are also encouraged to become ‘Champions’ so as to support the campaign.

Empowerment’s project, ‘The Den’ works with hundreds of children and young people each year who have experienced domestic abuse, in the vast majority of cases this means experiencing male violence towards women. ‘The Den’ will continue to support those children and young people as long as they need us, but surely we also have to work for a world in which male violence towards women is a thing of the past. That is why Empowerment is so proud to be a ‘White Ribbon Accredited’ organisation.
