Empowerment is dedicated to supporting the LGBT community in Blackpool and the Fylde.
Our teams work with residents of the town to Advocate, co-produce, challenge domestic violence and all of its consequences, tackle social isolation and loneliness, recognising the uniqueness and potential of everyone.
The Empowerment Base is a safe space for all members of the community and we welcome everyone.

We believe that our mission to recognise the uniqueness and potential in everyone means reaching out to all communities across Blackpool. The LGBT Mark is one way we believe we can do this and we welcome suggestions on how best to do this.

Empowerment has been awarded the, ‘Working Towards- Lancashire LGBT Quality Mark’ by Lancashire LGBT (https://lancslgbt.org.uk/quality-mark/).
This marks significant progress in Empowerment’s journey to be a truly diverse organisation, whereby people from the LGBT community find Empowerment to be a place of welcome for staff and volunteers and for those who access and engage with our services.
We still have some work to do and we will be working hard to make some more changes so as to achieve the full LGBT Quality Mark.
Many of our friends in the LGBT community still face bigotry and discrimination on a daily basis. Empowerment’s values of Kindness, Justice and Equality are there to ensure we make sure that we do all that we can to support the LGBT community in experiences here at Empowerment and in our wider community.
Commitment to trans equality
Empowerment is committed to promoting equality, diversity and good relations in everything it does. Empowerment is committed to equality of opportunity for trans people , including supporting trans employees through any transitioning process. Empowerment will not tolerate discrimination, victimisation or harassment on the basis of a person’s gender identity, gender expression or trans status. Empowerment seeks to provide a supportive environment for trans staff and to create a culture and environment where trans staff are able to thrive and are well supported during any process of transition.
