Early on the morning of the 25thJuly 2019, a group of Empowerment staff set off from the Empowerment Base to head towards the Lake District to climb 2,634ft to the top of ‘The Old Man of Coniston’. We were taking part in a sponsored walk to raise much needed funds for our brilliant project, ‘The Den’ which supports children and young people whose lives have been torn apart by domestic abuse. We were joined by Jo from Beaverbrooks, who have very kindly given Jo time to fundraise for ‘The Den’.
The walk itself was tough and it also happened to be the hottest day of the year, several of our group faced real challenges in completing the walk, however we all got to the top and back down in one piece. It was a really proud day for all of us, not only have we raised lots of money for ‘The Den’ but also as a team we succeeded in achieving a really difficult task by supporting each other, especially when the going got tough! This is who we are… ‘Empowerment People!!’
