I would like to say a big thank you to all of those people who participated in our latest Annual General Meeting (AGM) which took place on 30thNovember 2018 in the fabulous @thegrange Community Hub in the heart of Grange Park, Blackpool

AGM’s are so important to small charities such as Empowerment because it gives us an opportunity to present the achievements of the charity (and the challenges) and to demonstrate our financial sustainability. One of our chief causes for celebration was the deliberate decision taken by our Trustees in 2017 to use our free reserves to invest in the charity: namely our building, our staff and new services. All of these measures will contribute greatly to our sustainability as a small, local charity proud to be based in Blackpool.

However, I suppose what I was most pleased about was the numbers of people with ‘Lived Experience’ of Multiple Complex Needs who were in attendance. AGM’s should be relevant to the people who use our services as it is their voice, needs and wishes which actually matters most. It was a clear sign of Empowerment’s journey to once again being a local, grassroots and membership led charity.
