The Empowerment Team recognise and understand that there is a lot of information circulating that is causing anxiety surrounding the Coronavirus (Covid-19).

Our team want to support you at this time, working together with Public Health, Blackpool Council and NHS guidance we will be sharing factual and up to date information and helping where appropriate. Please remember to only follow official advice which can be found here:

It is within our mission to tackle social isolation and loneliness and we recognise that during a nationwide period of ‘self-isolation’ we should do all that we can to stay connected. This means our phone lines will still be open to receive calls between the hours of 9am-5pm, Monday – Friday 0300 32 32 100. Additional support can also be found via the Empowerment website blog and social media (search Empowerment). Empowerment will:

1. Continue to support the people we are currently working with if it is practical to do so

2. Attend meetings that are still being held

In a bid to delay the spread of the virus we have advised all staff to home work unless out on appointments. The Empowerment Base is now closed to the public and therefore we have had to suspend our friendship groups including, The Dementia group, Knitting and coffee morning held on Fridays. (This also includes our weekly Wednesday morning coffee at Starbucks)

We have set up an internal group of staff who are working creatively on ideas to support the community. As a responsible charity, Empowerment’s Business Continuity Team is now in operation to ensure the smooth running of the charity in these uncertain times. This is a difficult time for us all and it is essential that we all work together across Blackpool and the Fylde Coast to continue to support those most vulnerable in our community. Although we will have to work in different ways we will never stop in our mission to:
